A Viking Funeral

Ok so I guess I'm almost obligated to check this out and reply ;)

Actually pretty cool music. As for the mix, overall its sounds a little bit like there is a blanket over the speakers and a little more balance between the snare (its just a little too loud in spots) and the kicks (just a little too low overall) is needed. Aside from that very nice job with the song itself. Some really nice riffs in there.

Last comment is maybe more of a question ...

what's with the picture on the player for the song? Looks more like the band name should be "A Crips Funeral" :D

at least find a good stock viking image somewhere and put it up there. Its like having a cd called "Death From Hell" and havng a picture of Yanni on the cover

Cheers!

thanks for some feedback! i do agree about the snare and the kicks. my drummer likes his kicks kinda buried though.
that picture thats up there was just something quick made up...hahaha its not permanent. thank you for giving me some feedback.

so i turned down the snare alil. upped the kick. turned down the 200 range in the multipressor on the master. added some compression in waveburner.
any comments on the mix now?

Ok gave it another listen .. overall sounds much better. Seems to have a better balance across the whole thing but seriously, ignore your drummer and turn those fucking kicks up. The snare still sounds out of place a lot because its almost like its the only drum being heard. Turn the kicks up, balance out the kit better ... my opinion.

Cheers!

Try adding abit of verb to the snare, not much, just so it fills the mix up more.
And i think you should lower the frequencies at 100hz and lower on all instrument except the drums and the bass, that way your kicks will pop through nicer.
And the kickdrum still is to muddy, try adding a gate to it, and maybe lowering the frequencies below 80, and giving it abit of a boost in the treble, so you get more of a click(Not meaning you have to have clicky kicks, just enough so it cuts through the mix.).

And i dont know if its because of myspace or not, but i would probably put abit more highmids on those guitars.

But its a good song, and you have a good foundation to mix on. :P

Edit:
Oh, i have a feeling that you dont have any multibandcompressor over the mix? That might be an idea, just to make it spark and thunder abit more. ;)
