not sure if many of u know but someone has written a book about events of alrosa shootings, quite a good read so far,it delves deep into all people killed that nite, quite a good read so far, this book has copped a beating on dimebag related boards but i see no prob with it,i was always keen on finding out more on what happened that nite, whats everyone think?

simply insulting.. No reason for it. Let the guy rest in peace already.
We don't need to have any more tributes or info. Remember he loved music and his fans and that should be it.

HE, HE, HE....well, I love Dimebag just as much as the next guy, but he WAS NOT the only victim of that night and he's not the center of this book. The book is not about him, it's about three heroes that barely ever get mentioned who jumped up onstage and took bullets - and gave up their entire lives, to try and save Dimebag and the rest of the band's life. Those people deserve recognition.
I wrote this writeup the other day for the BLS boards (I run one of their sites):

----------------------------------------------------------
A book which chronicles what most consider to be the worst day in heavy metal history, "A Vulgar Display Of Power: Courage and Carnage at the Alrosa Villa," which was written by author & patched Doom Crew member Chris A., features BLS guitarist Nick Catanese's thoughts and stories about Dimebag Darrell Abbott.

The book, features a detailed account of the the night of December 8th, 2004 - the shocking murders of legendary guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott, metal fan, husband, and father Nathan Bray, professional roadie Erin Halk, and Damageplan's head of security Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson.

The book also features a foreword written by Columbus Police Officer James Niggemeyer, the man responsible for ending the killer's rampage and saving countless lives.

Most importantly, other than being an accurate, fact-laden account, the book also goes in depth about the 3 heroes that we know so little about, Nathan Bray, Erin Halk, and Jeffery Thompson. These brave men gave their lives trying to stop a madman from taking any more lives, and get very little recognition for their sacrifices. Until now.

Not only does this book celebrate those heroes that we lost, it also makes known the heroic actions of many other surviving victims, such as John Graham, John Brooks, Chris Paluska, the Columbus Police, Fire & Rescue crews, and many others, as well as how calmly and collectively the crowd handled the situation and comforted one another in a time of utter chaos.

The book also goes in detail about the killer's disease, medical history, military records, and crime & drug-riddled past, and also examines his motive. But this madman does not get a free pass - he is, and will always be defined by the 4 minutes and 59 seconds of pure evil that he displayed onstage at the Alrosa Villa.

Within the pages of this book, you get a history of the club, the Alrosa Villa, a popular heavy metal nightclub which has been open for over 30 years, as well as the facts about a previous incident at Bogart's in Cincinatti, Ohio eight months prior, where the same psyhopath jumped onstage and attempted to attack the band.

In between each chapter of the book, there are "Dime Times" - where Dimebag's friends, fans, admirers, and fellow musicians tell their stories about what he meant to them or their time spent together. BLS' own Nick Catanese is one of those interviewed for the book.

The book is available at all Borders stores in the country, as well as many other book stores. You can buy the book online at
Amazon.com

A portion of the proceeds go to the Anthony Bray college fund. Anthony Bray is the son of Nathan Bray, the only deceased victim that had a child.

The book's cover art was also created by none other than SDMFworldwide webmaster Deege (myself - for free, might I add)
