AC/DC help needed

Back In Black is an amazing album, and even ACDC would find it hard to top. That said, Flick Of The Switch and For Those About To Rock sit very well next to Back In Black.

I'd go for Flick Of The Switch - It's Trents fav too. :)

I can't recommend any of the Bon Scott albums, because I don't own any.

For Those About to Rock is the natural progression...but I hope you own some of the Bon Scott albums too. Highway to Hell is a must own for starters. All the Bon albums are awesome as well and well worth owning. Some are more back to basics heavy rock but worthy! Bonfire Box Set is very good for rare material. And if you can find it I reccoment the AC DC Let There Be Rock Live in Paris video. Not sure if its out on dvd yet? I own the video proper and saw it at the cinemas when it first came out (highway to hell tour from memory)

Just a difference of opinion Flick of the Switch - I thought that one was quite ordinary personally. Particularly after the the granduer of Back in Black & For Those About To Rock.

I'd lean towards something from the Bon Scott selection. Dirty Deeds rules, and... well, that's the only whole Bon album I've actually heard. But most of their best songs are from that era.

When in doubt, though, do what I do and get a live album or DVD!

As Sydo said, if you loved Back In Black and want basically a Back In Black part 2, go for Flick of The Switch. Killer album! And also For Those About To Rock which also has the same sound as Back In Black & Flick Of The Switch. Flick is better than For Those though I think, just cranks up the attitude, grooves, sleaze, big hooks & distortion a little more... whereas For Those was a bit of a step back after Back In Black in terms of those things.

Then go for AC/DC Live probably, and as far as Bon Scott stuff goes its all good but Highway To Hell, Let There Be Rock, TNT & Dirty Deeds are my personal favourites. Oooh and the live album with Bon, If You Want Blood, is also a killer. I think it sounds alot better than AC/DC Live and has more energy, but obviously AC/DC Live has a 100x better tracklisting.

As far as the Brian-era albums after Flick Of The Switch go, I think the best ones are Stiff Upper Lip & The Razor's Edge. The others are patchy.

The Razors Edge :headbang: :headbang:
Seriously, get this one next

Also get Live , make sure you get the double cd version

and most definately GET BONFIRE 4CD BOXSET!!!!!!

thats where i started, it has Back In Black remastered and 3 cds consisting of unreleased Bon Scott material and 2 live cds, one in paris the other from a radio station gig.

Back In Black is the best Johnson era AC/DC album hands down. I'm afraid it's all downhill from there :(.

Apart from a few dodgy moments on High Voltage, the Bon Scott era is almost faultless. If you don't enjoy the likes of TNT, Let There Be Rock and Highway To Hell, you have no pulse.

That said, I haven't listened to AC/DC in any form for many years. I bought all the albums on tape when I was at school and haven't bothered to update them, so my memories are fond but dim.

It's not all downhill after Back In Black. As I said, For Those is a great album but technically you could still say its downhill coz it ain't as good as Back In Black, but then Flick Of The Switch is another step right back up the level of Back In Black.

Then it's downhill.
