Accident of Birth: The greatest album Maiden never recorded

I like both albums. But I think both albums have a few not so great song. But even at that the only similarity to Iron Maiden these records have is Bruce's voice. There are a few riffs here and there that might slightly sound like Maiden but over all its heavier and more straight forward. I actually like Tattoed Millionaire as well. There are some bad songs on that one as well but also some really good ones. And the last Bruce solo album is way more 'thrasy' than Maiden. Double bass and what not

I was the same, until I heard Sacred Cowboys. :ill:

That was what? 13 years ago? Besides, the man was experimenting. Have you heard the material he threw away for that record? Bruce has said that Balls To Picasso was basically recorded 3 times.

Tyranny of Souls is a great record. Another one in the fine tradition of Roy Z collaborations.

I'm quite partial to Skunkworks as well.

i'm glad this came up, i was thinking bout it lately. AoB is very good, but Chemical Wedding is an all time great. i wanted to put at least 4 songs from it on my maidenS dream set wish list, but since it's just bruce didn't know if i could. Aja, what would it take to hear you sing Book of Thel, Gates of Urizen or Jerusalem??? they're perfect for you-it's a match made in metal heaven!!! :worship:

And? I don't care if it was 30 years ago, I hate that song! I like all the ones on BTP except that one and Cyclops. There's not many songs of Bruce's that I don't like but Sacred Cowboys I cannot stand!

His Keith Olsen material was quite good. I'm very happy Bruce decided to release it on the b-sides for the singles. BTC is still my favorite solo album from Bruce and my favorite of any work done by Roy Z. Roy Z is my favorite guitarist and songwriter. Almost anything that guy gets involved with sound brilliant.

And, for the record, I love Sacred Cowboys. The ending is very climatic and it sets up Tears of the Dragon perfectly.

Hehe this is much more active than I had hoped :)

Yeah AoB and TCW are both fantastic albums. Great, heavy music, Bruces singing is spot on, Roy Z and Adrian just CLICK so damn well together. Scream for me Brazil is one of my favorite live albums as well. In fact the only thing I wish was that it included the full length show.

It's long been one of my dreams that a Maiden show would do it's full set, then come out and the first Encore would start with either The Tower, or more preferably, Book of Thel. Then maybe crank out another Bruce solo song, and cap it off with a few of the more obscure Maiden tunes, like Alexander the Great, and one of my favs, Still Life.

Anyway :D

as a side note I don't think I've ever heard this Sacred Cowboys song...

Anyone have Live in Studio A? It contains mostly songs from Bruce's first 2 records, but live they have much more energy, and are played by the guys in the Skunkworks lineup. It's a bit raw sounding, but a great piece of history of Bruce's solo career.

Yep, I've got that one. :D

So what's everyone's favourite song and album?

Song - Silver Wings

Yup. Live in Studio A box set with Scream for Me Brazil. :)

I actually saw Bruce live & interviewed him on the AOB tour.Geezer Butler's very heavy project GZR was the support act.
Amazing show.He did "Road to Hell(my fave of AOB)"Power Slave" "Ryhme of the Ancient Mariner".
This show was at Slim's in San Francisco.Strangely enough a few year's earlier a friend of mine accidently saw Bruce at a cafe a cross the street from Slim's.Bruce was visiting SF, some people were in the cafe playing music & Bruce took a guitar & sang some songs.
I asked him about that in the interview and he said he remembered that & thought this area looked familiar. So on stage that night he said some one earlier(ME) reminded him he was in that part of town a few years ago where he played few acoustic numbers and then said this was probably one of those songs and played "Tears of a Dragon".
