So my band just recorded this, no vocals yet, those are next. Due to me going to college in about 2 weeks, we haven't really had time to do drums, so I've programmed them with AD. I think they sound decent, at least halfway believable, but what do you guys think???

Also, there are 6 guitar tracks throughout, which is ridiculous I know, but we quadtracked the rhythms and then realized we forgot the harmonies lol!

If anyone wants my AD preset I can post it, I'm pretty proud of it :headbang::headbang:

ANY input would be greatly appreciated!

the cymbals are pumping a little, but I think the overall tone of the AD is pretty nice! I think the kick ought to have a tiny bit more character, but overal, very good job, man! Could you post the preset, please? :)

Uh Rhythm Guitar seems really soft to me while bass sounds a little loud.

As for drums, sounds good. The fill at :42 and the blast beat straight after it sounds quite programmed though, and a lot of pumping going on with the blast beat, but overall on the cymbals, which you've noted. Toms sound very real which is good, I struggle to get sampled/programmed toms sounding realistic. Floor tom sounds a little boxy to me but its such a short sample (I only noticed in the big fill :49) its hard to tell. Also, the kick has quite a 'hard' characteristic (only way I can describe it as if you're playing against a solid surface like wood), if you wanted to give it a bit more 'give' (as if its a flexible surface like a skin) then try cutting VERY slightly around 2k. If you like it though, keep it. Perhaps a tad too much snare bottom in the snare? Usually not noticable, but with fills like at :04 I can hear it quite distinctly, but again, personal taste.

Guitar leads sound great, but quite a few dead notes and timing is a little off in places.. :/

The guitars are out of tune, the drums sound programmed and they are incredibly boring, and the bassline just seems out of sync, wierd and fluttery.
Im sorry dude, but there wasn't really much that was "right" in this clip, except the guitarsound.

Bass is too loud and needs to be eq-ed differently to fit in the mix.

Drums sound right and very realistic on some parts but sound fake on other parts where you seemed very lazy/noobish on the drums programming. Spend more time on details on the programming and it's gonna sound fine.

Ok! So I think I've made some progress :)

I added some C4 on the guitars to make them a little cleaner, and I've worked on the bass tone A LOT! Also, I changed the strings up at the end. I've blended the AD with some of my favorite Black Panther sample, and I think it makes it sound a bit more natural.

Also, I've edited the drums quite a bit to make the fills and sections sound more natural.

AND I've worked a ton on the cymbals to get the compression and panning to be more natural.

So.... what do you think? :kickass::kickass::kickass:

cymbals are still weird-sounding at parts.. I used to have the same problem... try taking the compressor easy on the addictive drums master track... or just taking it off completely

It sounds way better already, but as somebody already mentioned i hear some "out of tune"-ness in here. Maybe the bass or something is out of tune or there is just some fuck-ups while palying the notes.

The main problem now is the cymbals. It's not a tweaking issue IMO but more a programming issue. Did you mess up with the velocities on the cymbal hits ?

Test number 5!!!

Ok, I think I've pretty much gotten it. I took all of the compression off the master track (thanks REX!) and I also removed the Saturation, which was giving everything a slightly distorted sound.

I'm currently working on what's out of tune. We tuned the guitars after each take, so I think it might have something to do with there being 6 guitar tracks. The slight variations in playing could be giving it the out of tune sound.... :err:

Also, here is my updated preset :kickass::kickass::kickass: It's miles ahead of the other ones!
