Tragic news to report, as Adrenaline Mob were involved in a fatal vehicle crash near Micanopy, Fla., where they were on their way to St. Petersburg. It’s now known that the band’s bassist David Z passed away, with several injured.
According to Gainsville.com, the band’s RV was pulled over on the side of the road to fix a flat tire when they were struck by a tractor-trailer that veered off I-75. In addition to the fatality, seven people were injured and were rushed to UF Health Shands Hospital and North Florida Regional Medical Center.
An update from Gainsville.com on Saturday morning lists the conditions of each of the individuals involved in the highway accident. Singer Russell Allen (also of Symphony X) was in the RV and is seriously injured. Drummer Jordan Cannata and guitarist Mike Orlando were in a van that was pulling the band’s trailer of equipment, and they are both seriously injured.
Also injured in the RV was Janet McCole, reported to be the band’s tour manager, who is in critical condition, along with Jason McCole, Dale Campiglia and Robert Dressler, who were all seriously injured.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Robert Haines, was uninjured, and declined comment to a reporter who met him at the scene.
We will have more updates as this story develops. We would like to send our best wishes and thoughts to the friends and family of David Z, as well as the other members of Adrenaline Mob and everyone else who was involved in this horrific accident.
