Advertising mixing with other peoples' songs?

I've been thinking about doing some production work with some local bands, and I had a question pop into my head.

If someone here puts up raw tracks to a song (which happens a lot), is it wrong to use the song to advertise your own mixing services (providing, of course, you make no claim to have mixed the actual released version)? Obviously you should try to contact the user who put up the tracks to see if he would be OK with it, but a lot of the links on here are years old, and no doubt some of the users will have stopped using the forum by then.

I can't really think of any other way to advertise mixing services besides songs that you have mixed for bands already (which I haven't).

You can, but only if you get the permission from the author of the files first.

I could imagine it's useful if you hand that stuff out to bands, but if you use them for publicly advertising your service, it kinda says "Hey, I haven't actually worked ever before, so you're gonna be the first!", which I wouldn't exactly consider a plus when looking for someone to work on my material.
