Hi. I'm a (god damned) drummer with a decent amount of music knowledge and general good taste in music. However I'm getting really cheesed off with being just a (god damn) drummer. I've decided to take guitar lessons to remedy this - I imagine my writing style will be quite opethian - ie lots of acoustic. I have an electric that'll do me for now, what I'm interested in is acoustic guitar recommendations - something not too pricey but good enough so that I won't need to replace it as soon as I can play three chords. I was looking at a crafter JM model for £185 (about urrr $250 I think) which sounded great and looked the business (but then I'm a lamen). Can I have some choice recommendations from you guys? don't need an electro right now.... will be playing in my bedroom anyway lol :D

thanks :)

Parker Fly!

yeah baby..

though that doesn't matter too much for a n00b..

I'd say just get a hold of any old guitar.. borrow one for free if you can and see if it's for you first...

if you can get acoustic then that would be great too.. good to start learning on those instead of hiding behind distortion and all...

 you sure came to the wrong place to ask about acoustic guitars. Personally, I don't know much about them, but stay the hell away from the value brands like Casino, I know this since my first guitar was one, and I had to learn on it... and well, I still can't play the damned thing (however I can play most-any other guitar, haha).

Try Matton... I think... that seems to be quite a common name around, although I've never played one and cant say much, but it just seems to be widely sold.

Maton guitars are australian made expensive pieces of art.

Tommy emmanuel uses them, and they're not cheap, starting at around $800 i think and go up to around $3000. seriously get a cheap one but get it setup to suit yourself, string guage-wise /action etc. learn on a classical if you must, won't hurt your fingers and damage your motivation

Washburn makes some nice acoustics.

My advice would be for you to go to your local music store and try out a variety of acoustic guitars within or a little bit higher than your price range and when you find one that feels right to you....go on-line and purchase it at a much better price than what the store was willing to sell it for.

Ebay auctions for guitars is a great site.

Good luck!
