Advice on interface?

after recording drums all into one track i decided that it was time to get an interface as it was an absolute nightmare!

i have been looking round and it seems that the Alesis MultiMix 16 Firewire is the best value for money. i'm willing to pay around $500.
any advice would be appreciated

I've heard good stuff about alesis io 26, but haven't tried it.

We've got a M-Audio 1814 with all kinds of pluggable options but other than that I personally have an extremely cheap Emu0404 pci
Assuming you're computer recording,

Presonus Firepod I see this one talked about a LOT

I haven't tried any of these but just trying to help you in the right direction (although people might disagree if they've actually used any of them with bad results)

DONT GET THE ALESIS MULTIMIX!

i got the 12 in, and it doesnt work on PC's only on macs, also, you cant record that many channels in, it only records two tracks (stereo) for the whole desk.

its crap
and it doesnt come with a driver, PC's NEED drivers for the interfaces
