akg 414 on toms??

I was browsing through some of Silent Force's recording pictures and it appears that they used 414's on the Toms for the recording. I am just curious to know if anyone else here has used them and what kind of results they got? I've heard Silent Force's new record and the Drums do sound killer.

Never tried. I've used it in hypercard with pad on high hats though, worked quite well.

I'd imagine that they'd sound quite good. For a second, I thought that the placement would be different, more like a normal tom micing setup where the mic is partially over the drum. In that circumstance, I'd be terrified of the mic getting hit by a stick, but in this setup, looks good. I've tried other condensers on toms before, and have almost always liked the sound(Oktava's and Studio Projects' mics work great for little money).
