Alan Parsons Project

damn, i'm just now rediscovering this EXCELLENT band from the 70s/80s. i grew up to this stuff, albums like PRYAMID, EVE, I ROBOT and such. i've never heard anything by them i didn't like... i need to find all my tapes and then go back and buy all of their CDs.

along with king crimson, these guys are the most underrated band in rock!!!

NE1 else share tha luv? :D

I think I heard them a bit when I was about 4, one of these days I'll check them out again for sure.

King Crimson is even underrated by me, and you know how often I slob on that knob.

GAH!!!!! Thank you BWD, you have just done me a great favor! I've been trying to remember an old vinyl of me mum's I listened to when I was a wee lad, and I never knew the name of it, but have had the image of the album cover ingrained in my brain for over 15 years now! Here it be, it's the AAP!

How I'm going to escape not purchasing this until April is beyond me. :D

oh man... that one is SOOOOOOOOO good... i've been listening to progressive music all my life without even knowing it (including genesis)!

seriously, everything by them is excellent... i'm sure people who listen to classic rock radio (or have seen michael jordan play) have heard many of their songs, but if you asked them about the band they'd go "who?!?"

I, Robot kicks so much ass it's unbelievable. This was the album I heard a bit when I was younger. All prog fans should own this, that's all there is to it.

yeah, it's got a great mix of songs... probably their best album, along with "pyramid". their first album is essential as well. "turn..." and "eye..." are good, but not quite essential. "eve" is pretty mediocore, as is most of the stuff that followed "eye...".

when are you going to notice that old-school genesis is the best progressive music ever? :D

Don't worry, I'm picking up The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway soon enough. :D Could stand to get some Peter Gabriel too, been a big fan of him for years.

Awesome, thanks.

Yes, the frickin' "lazer" beam was called the Alan Parsons Project. Mike Myers is a genius. :tickled:

EDIT: Looks like I'm going to start with Peter Gabriel's third, because the Intruder KICKS SO MUCH ASS IT'S UNBELIEVEABLE. And I've only heard the Primus rendition of it. :)
