Hey... Which albums do you guys feel have artwork that really, really fits in with the feeling the music conveys? A few I can think of off the top of my head:
Tiamat - Wildhoney
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Katatonia - Tonight's Decisions

Cool topic!

Amon Amarth - The avenger
Iron Maiden - Somewhere in time
Judas Priest - Painkiller (imho)
Bolt Thrower - Realm of chaos
Death - Symbolic

Vintersorg - Cosmic Genesis
DT - Projector
Amon Amarth - The Crusher

Just a few off my head, cuz itll start hurting if I keep goin :)

did i see this topic somewhere else, like say... umm.. j*s*e* r*c*r*s ? ;) or is it a really freaky coincidence?

anyway,
Ulver - Metamorphosis
Einherjer - all except Norwegian Native Art
Empyrium - Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays
Arcturus - Disguised Masters
Devil Doll - The Girl Who Was.... Death
Enslaved - Frost
every power metal album :p

actually as it happens to most people you tend to associate the covers with the album, so they all look like they sound (hehe i read this there too, but it true.)

chupi thread

Lacrimosa-Einsamkeit
Ulver-bergtatt
Katatonia-Sounds of decay
Enslaved-Frost
Tiamat-Wildhoney
In the woods...-HEart of the ages
Dödheimsgard-International 666
Dolorian-When all the laughter has gone

Blind Guardian - Imaginations For The Other Side (no, it's not powermetal  ;) )
Manowar - Kings Of Metal (yeah, the cover says it all!!!)
Anathema - Alternative 4
Sentenced - Crimsom
Devin Townsend - Terria

to name some....

hmmmmmmmmm.............

My Dying Bride - Like Gods of The Sun
Opeth - My Arms Your Hearse
Solefald - Pills...
Anathema - A Fine Day to Exit
At The Gates - With Fear...
Morbid Angel - FFTTF, Gateways to Annihilation

a more interesting thread would be "covers that don't fit the music" ...there are so many that come to mind. e.g. Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper, Sinergy - Suicide..., Tiamat - Judas Christ, In Flames - C.O.L.O.N.Y., Katatonia - Discourages 1s...................

Dark Throne - Transylvanian Hunger, Under a Funeral Moon, Blaze in the Northern Sky

Burzum - Burzum, Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, Det Som Engang Var

Emperor....Satyricon....wait, I think every black metal CD I own sounds like the cover....except Covenant - Nexus Polaris, man I hate that album....

The early (original) Carcass covers especially. :D

Greetings.

- Evereve - Stormbirds (definitely)
- The Gathering - Nighttime Birds
- Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond (Not necessarily the drawing, but the way it was drawn)
- Ulver - Nattens Madrigal (well, I look at the picture and I think about the production of the album...)
- Devil Doll : The Girl Who Was... Death

BTW Melancholia : Perdition City RULES big time. Thanks. I'm trying to find Themes...

Every Blind Guardian and Iced Earth CD
The Re-Realeased Skydancer with artwork by Niklas Sundin.
Bolt Thrower- Honour Valour Pride
Kataonia - Tonight's Decision
Cryptopsy -And then you'll beg.....
Every Vintersorg album:)

@Kovenant84 haha, sorry....my problem with the album is this: every song has at least one part I can't stand; like it'll be a really cool song and one gay piano or vocal part will come in and ruin the song. This seems to hapen on every track and no matter how many times I give the album another shot it always gets to me. Their new shit is a lot different and I do want to give that a listen one of these days....

Psychotic Waltz - Bleeding (this albums probably has the best cover and layout i have ever seen and it completely fits with the music)
Kyuss - Sky Valley
In The Woods - 3 Times 7 On A Pilgrimage
My Dying Bride - 34.788% Complete

Hmm...

The ones I agree with:

Tiamat - Wildhoney (the art tells the music is original)
Dark Tranquillity - Projector (dark and insightful theme)
Ulver - Bergtatt (fits damn well with the image of trolls in the woods)
Opeth - My Arms Your Hearse (so painfull imagery)
Opeth - Blackwater Park (the grey coloring is great)

The ones I disagree with:

The Gathering - Mandylion (looks like some African ethnic music)
In Flames - The Jester Race (the booklet is great, but the cover picture is too comical)
Carcass - the early original covers (look at Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious and tell me it has anything to do with the music)
Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I (the cover is too obscure)

I'm not too sure of the rest mentioned so far, but here's a few of my own that I think fit pretty well:

Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery (impressive - just like the music)
Edge of Sanity - Purgatory Afterglow (fiery)
In Flames - Lunar Strain (raw)
Theatre of Tragedy - Velvet Darkness They Fear (can you say "goth"?)

And I think the cover of Nexus Polaris fits pretty well the music.
