Alice does Alice...

Exposure like that comes very seldom for metal musicians.

I for one don't consider Alice to be metal. No doubt this will expose him to another audience that's for sure. I just don't see this generating that much interest. This'll do for Alice what it did for KISS last year or ZZ Top the year before. That is not much plus you whore yourself out in the process.

Until you see this:

Oh c'mon. I've fond memories of that show (and the one with Vincent Price too)

@ Sixx: I'm not into re-recordings but being a frebbie, thanks a lot :D

@ PM74: I agree with Sixx, Alice is not metal, he doesn't need that exposure (nor anyone else Idol is a piece of SHIT!)

Billy Idol to replace Tyler in Aerosmith???!!!??? .... I will just shit myself and it will not be a good shit.

It would be better then Lenny Kravitz who was also mentioned in that article!

The project Alice and Ezrin are working on is Welcome To My Nightmare II. It's being released by a joint venture between Alice and Ezrin with distribution by Warner Music. As you can see Desmond Child let the cat out of the bag. Alice and Ezrin were trying to keep it under wraps. Leave it to the big queen to let it slip!

I read about Ezrin and the Coop on Alice's MySpace yesterday. As for Desmond Child, I don't mind but I would have prefered only Alice and Bob handling the composition.

Alice's former guitarist, Damon Johnson (former Brother Cane founder/singer/lead guitarist) also still works with him in the songwriting department. Damon isn't exactly a household name, but he has written songs for Stevie Nicks... just as an example, and is very highly regarded in the rock music world. I could see this being some cool stuff.

thats old news but i'd rather see lenny fronting aerosmith. billy idol wouldn't come close to adding anything to aerosmiths songs and his range as a singer is very limited

Sorry for mixing the two threads Alice was mentioned on but I wanted to add, being a REAL OLD schooler :

I would "argue" that early Cooper at times was very much knocking on the door of metal. I place Halo of Flies quite high on my list of pre-metal songs and will be so bold to say Alice (himself) was metal before metal was cool.

I lost interest after Billion Dollar Babies, however. He split the origional band for reasons I now understand but the music they put together was great, he released that weird ballad Only Woman Bleed on the radio and his voice also deteriorated, not the greatest vocal cords in the first place but it got worse quick.

Interesting point of view, although I disagree.

I think he not only has a very distinctive voice but he keeps it after all these years, specially since he sober up and improved his music (from "The Last Temptation" up to his latest album). I feel the same thrill listening to 'Be My Lover (1971)' than to 'Vengeance Is Mine (2008)'

And he has a ton of radio friendly songs, being actually 'You And Me' the most commercial one IMO, so no big deal about 'Only Woman Bleed'.

Oh it was a big deal back in the day, we went from Schools Out, 18, Billion Dollar Babies, No More Mr Nice Guy to Only Woman Bleed in what was it four albums... as far as radio songs, thats radio songs, at that time us Cooper freaks that had all the albums up until that one, well thats NOT what Cooper was all about. Im not saying its a bad song but Im saying at least for me it was a bad direction and the music lost its charm.

Im not fimiliar with any of his later work, though I have heard some on occasion, like I said after BDB it was over. Theres one later 70's album my buddy and drummer is into and he's played it for me and I just shake my head, I cant stand listening to it. Its so far inferior to what the origional band was writing.

yet you admit you didn't like the original bands last album muscle of love and i don't think anyone likes the first 2 (easy action and pretties for you).

i thought it was cool alice tried lots of different things when he went solo. a good way to make it known its not the original band. everything from trash-now has been pretty high quality except for eyes of alice cooper, dragontown (just because it sounded like what it was, a weaker brutal planet) and i was a little let down by his newest release
