I think the reason I prefer Blackbird over One Day Remains (their debut) is because Myles was more a part of the songwriting process and plays both rhythms and some solos which gives the music more depth. ODR was pretty much written before he was brought into the group, from what I gather. It is still a great album though.
They are somewhere in between hard radio rock and metal. I think of them as sounding like a cross between Creed (obviously), Black Label Society (Zakk has even guested on a track from One Day Remains) and Soundgarden (Myles sounds very Cornel in places, hence his awesomeness).
From what I gather they haven't had much of a following here in the past. They toured once opening for POD and Disturbed, which I passed on. I have seen them in Europe once though and they slayed live. I think the combination of signing to Roadrunner for ABIII and Myles' profile being raised by all the rave reviews Slash is getting will lead to the band getting a bit more exposure, and hopefully see them come back for some more shows.
