Hey-ho,

as long as I can think I have been into Metal. I know how to promote a Metal record properly. I have my mailing list, I know how to adress the fans, which platforms to use etc. ...

The problem is ... I don't really know what to do with my new Alternative Rock project. It seems like a "go mainstream or die" thing to me.

What do you think is the difference in promoting Rock or Metal? How can a record be promoted which is actually mainstream-stuff, but totally made underground-style?

I'm looking forward to read your ideas on this topic.

Cheers from Germany
David

In my experience knowing the right people is everything, for example, here in Stuttgart are some Alternative/Rock/Indie guys
who do this kind of stuff for quite some time, know producers, know radio stations, know locations and so on.
If you get these guys into your music (getting to know them isn't that hard) you will get the chance to loads of great marketing
options, but you need to invest time and money.
Merchandise, decently recorded records with good graphics, good photos and stuff really helps, well done music videos, too.

Where are you located in Germany?
