Amazing movie score studio diary video (Sibelius, ProTools, midi VSTis and editing...) :

in-depth video of the making of an orchestral movie scene soundtrack, from songwriting in Sibelius to handing it to big-shot producer making it sound better (MIDI VSTis proper choice and humanization...), to recording it with an actual orchestra...

It's in French with no subtitles AFAIK, but by watching and listening you can figure things out anyway.
There are several parts (2 posted so far), and you can see a guy writing the score for one movie scene with Sibelius, then handing over this project to his studio sorceron friend who has all those VSTis and is gonna make it sound better (MIDI humanization, proper choice of VSTis, etc...). Then they hand this "preproduction" to the movie guy and record a real orchestra, and finally do some overdubs, arrange some final details and voilà.

Watch this stuff it's pretty awesome, especially part 2.

Jean-Félix Lalanne : l'histoire d'une musique de film, partie 1 : la composition avec Sibelius 7 :

Awesome! I'm also self-learning french so I could use the listening practice, plus I'm super interested in this, thanks!

Wow, good luck with that, you in a relationship with a French girl or what ?

I know :
-learning French is a bitch when it's not your mother tongue
-learning Spanish is easy when you're French

But i'm wondering if it's easy to learn French when you're Spanish... I think the fact both languages are close in many ways helps, but French is still a bitch because it is so random and so on... am i right ?

No French girl (I wish hahaha), just wanted to learn a third language cause I was lucky to be raised entirely bilingual so I wanted to prove myself I can master another language without the "native" advantage, and I always liked French so what the hell.

So far the grammar isn't very difficult cause it's very similar to Spanish but also has some things that are the same in English (like always having to use the personal pronoun or subject unlike in Spanish when many time it's simply awkward to put it), still difficult because of the pronunciation and cause they are even more strict than Spanish and English with determiners (pretty much every article/adjective/pronoun is dependent on number and gender), but I'm loving it, I'm fascinated by languages and really enjoy learning a whole new way of expressing ideas.*

Anyways, haven't watched it yet

Thanks for the language difference explanation !

You seem very motivated so i have no worries about you making it.
A French girl would help a lot tho' :)
