What does that mean? What is the 'already' bit on the end of a sentence that is so commonly used?

To me it just means, that's enough, stop dwelling on it.

Or if you were Snagglepuss from the Hannah-Barbara cartoons, you would use EVEN (pronounced EEV-ON) instead of already.

I think the "already" is used when you want somebody to stop something that is fucking annoying. "Shut the fuck up already!" or "enough already!" used as an intensifier in these cases. As far as the etymology of that usage, I have no idea. Strange. Maybe an influence from another language. This is non-standard, colloquial usage.
