I figured one thread is easier than three. I'm looking to find more bands in a few genres since I'm having a lot of trouble finding bands similar to these.

1) American Symphonic "Black" (lol?) Metal in the vein of Anagnorisis or Abigail Williams. But less metalcore-ish than AW. I like keyboards when they're integral to the music, not just orchestra hits like CoB. Bleh.

2) Electronic-ish Black-ish-ened Metal (fuck if I know how to define this) like Shade Empire or Zonaria.

3) Sad Slitwrist My-Cat-Just-Died-Because-I-Put-Him-In-A-Blender-After-My-Girlfriend-Slept-With-My-Dad I Like Acoustic Poop Melodeath like Insomnium. But not tired pop Gothenburg melodeath like In Flames or Soilwork.

Vesperian Sorrow; although I'm not a huge fan of them. They're just all that came to mind:

Samael (not sure how similar they are to the bands you mentioned, but they fit your genre description):

Insomnium is super poppy melodeath. But anyway, Be'lakor is very similar.

I'll have to check out Vesperian Sorrow (at work so I can't listen at the moment).

I do love Samael - especially Passage and Eternal. They get a lot of play time.

I have heard Be'Lakor but I have yet to get their albums, though I did like what I heard. About time I purchase those.

I suppose I don't consider Insomnium pop melo because I don't think their sound has changed to fit a different audience. Though at the same time that's a reason I don't really listen to Across the Dark very often since there really wasn't anything in that album that wasn't already conceptualized in their previous three. Above the Weeping World is still one of the 10 albums I'd take with me to a desert island.

Above the Weeping World is a fantastic album.

Why are you looking for specifically American symphonic black metal, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm not specifically looking for only American symphonic black metal, but there's a distinct sound with Anagnorisis that I'm really struggling to find anywhere else - more American tone/production but the orchestration and songs are less typical than most here. I'd like to find more well-produced symphonic black metal overall, but at the moment I'm trying to scrape up some American bands.

To me most American bands are the same old tired shit over and over again, so I'm trying to find more bands here I can tolerate. It's tough to see a lot of smaller European bands here. I'd love to see Shade Empire, Zonaria, Samael (they had to cancel in 2010 which was a huge bummer :(), and others but they often can't afford to come to the U.S.
