Yeah, I just listened to The Codex Necro for my first time a few days ago. It's definitely got more in common with grind than any BM.

AN is good, there's a lot of punk influences yeah, though they still know how to make cold and icing riffs, especially their demos and their newest album Domine Non Es Dignus is great... cold blasting misanthropic metal..

Grindcore is based on punk. They do not have much punk in them. They are sort of "grindy" in that they're just really fast and extreme and raw but they're definitely within the realm of black metal...depends on the song/album though.

i doubt they'll ever play around here though.

Danzig just played here for the first time in 5 years. it was the best show i've ever been to. Doyle is on tour with them and they played a shitload of Misfits stuff. it was badass. it was worth sitting (or should i say standing) through 4+ hours of shitty bands (except Behemoth) to see it.

it was even better listening to the San Francisco cops telling people over their loudspeakers that a bunch of cars got "boosted". i'm glad i pulled my whole system out before that show.
