I have a couple things to discuss here:

1) Who hasn't heard these guys yet, and what's wrong with you if you haven't? Dreamlord, are you going to buy The Codex Necro or what? I'll gladly send you a CD-R. I'm sure you will like them.

2) Phyre might be interested in knowing this: I was emailing back and forth with Mick Kenney (Irrumator, Migg, etc. - the guy that does everything except vocals for AN), and he told me that he uses an Alesis SR16 drum machine for all of AN's stuff. That blew me away. I figured he had some top-of-the-line software and sampler for that stuff. Those are some of the most realistic sounding drums I've heard . . . for a drum machine.

The end.

no, haven't heard them. I haven't been buying much black metal lately. much more interesting genres out there right now for me.

They are black metal's version of Watchmaker. People call them post black metal, but they don't contain any keyboards or samples or techno beats or anything like that. They are pure hatred. I can't recommend them enough. They are easily one of the top 5 bands to emerge in the last 5 years.

Willowtip has Total Fucking Necro, which is not quite the caliber of The Codex Necro or the EP When Fire Reigns Down From the Sky, Mankind Will Reap As It Has Sown. Total Fucking Necro is still definitely worth the money, though.

heh, just noticed Willowtip has one of the releases. now I just need some cash flow...

No..... this guy doesn't change his mind all of the time... :Smug:

Since Willowtip has them, they must be cool. :loco:

Actually, I have Codex Necro and I wouldn't call it BM, not in the traditional sense. I think Dreamlord would like them though. :Spin:

Anaal Nathrakh are great. I have Codex Necro and Total Fucking Necro. Their both insane. As npearce said-pure raw hatred. One of the most aggressive black metal bands out there. I dont have The EP yet but i hear nothing but good things about that as well.

AN seems to be improving as time goes. Each release, whether full length or EP, shows the band becoming better song writers. However, they never seem to become any less aggressive.

bah. There are bands that interest me more, but since Willowtip had one of them for a meesly $10, I thought "what the hell" as opposed to The End which has it for a huge $13 (with slower shipping). :tickled:

I have all three items, and I had Frost's "Cursed Again" (which was rather meh).

Total Fucking Necro is the collection of their demos. I was just listening to Codex Necro in my car stereo, getting strange looks from the other drivers around me.

AN do kick ass. By the way, for those not in the know, the name comes from a spell Merlin chants in the movie "Excaliber".

i have the demo collection and their full length, great stuff, gotta love the sample from oliver stone's "platoon" :D
the EP is better than CN you say npearce? hm... i'll include it in my next order then, dunno why i haven't bought it yet, oh well...

I wouldn't say the EP is better than The Codex Necro. It just shows the band advancing with song structure. The Codex Necro is a modern classic as far as I'm concerned.

I love it when that sample screams "On your knees!" and then the song blasts everything to hell. THAT is awesome. It gives me a boner.

oh yes that part is mighty as hell, it's a literal sound explosion :D. it's "submission if for the weak right" is it not?

The Des mysteriis cover on TFN was very good as well i thought. I remember reading something awhile back when U.S. soldiers were using heavy metal to extract information from Iraqi's; apparently someone at MTV suggested they use Anaal Nathrakh instead of Metallica.
