I had the same question about Metallica.
First off, Metallica doesn't even play that track.
It is an intro track they use live.
I think the closest they ever came to actually "playing" that song was on S&M, which is from what, like 1999?

Maybe this appeared on some soundtrack???

Metallica re-recorded the Ecstacy of Gold into a "metal" version for an Ennio Morricone tribute album.

What's funny is that Slayer was nominated in 2006 for a song from Christ Illusion. They re-released the album in 2007 with a bonus track and they're nominated again for the unreleased song. Ha.

This is actually the best sounding thing Metallica has recorded in a long time.

This also further proves that Kirk is the only remotely talented musician left in the band (Though my opinion on that might change once Trujillo records with them)

While St Anger may have been the biggest piece of turd ever, Metallica were in top form when they toured, esp with Trujillo at the helm. Definitely more fire and passion than the last couple tours with Jason where they were going through the motions.
