Anders Jivarp is extremely underated in the world of metal

I feel that he gets brushed aside by B.M drummers. Anders has the greatest "Complex Dexterity' of any metal drummer i have studied and he deserves more praise. His work on songs like "The one brooding warning" and "My negation" really showcase this. ANDERS:kickass: :headbang: :kickass:

We all know that Anders is really under-rated, as so DT in general.

He is a really talented drummer, and now that I'm planning to become one, I listen to the drumming on DT and, as before and usual, find that it is amazing.

Not only the drumming, but DT itself mind you hehe.

Anders :headbang: :kickass: :headbang:

hm, the older stuff sounds pretty uninspired to me, blast beats all the way when you can't think of anything else, which seemed to be the case quite often. the newer tracks have improved hugely drum-wise, but still it's not like a relevation.

what about richard christie for complex dexterity? or davide piovesan? (ok that might be a little off track). hell, even the tool guy impresses me more. not to say that dark tranquillity aren't a brilliant band, but it was never the drumming that built the foundation of that brilliance (sorry anders :( )

I think that Anders is just underrated as DT is generally speaking.. this is too bad.. but who cares? we love one of the best bands in the world, so who cares about the rest?

I should now go for "DT THE BEST, FUCK THE REST!" hihihihih

i was reading the new Guitar world, which had an article on the 100 best guitar albums of all time,(and they dont really know extreme metal that much0,but the gallery is'nt even in it.I mean come on the gallery thats bull shit and a half

^ Hehe luckily enough, for our sake and waht's left of our mental sanity:p .

Actually I'm not sure if I have any left, maybe just a little bit...for walking, making love to Mrs.Gigi, eating and listening to music.

But that's about it :p .

I totally worship Anders Jivarp's drumming skills, and I'm not joking. As for under/overrated, it depends on who's doing the rating. In general DT obviously are, in the metal scene probably not that much, just not on everybody's mind.

Anders is a legend. I don't want to sound too fanatic when I say, he walks around like some kind of guru who has reached a balanced inner perfection, imposing/inspiring this perfection on anyone and everyone who encounters his presence. Then once sat behind the kit, we realise it is actually because he is a cyborg! bada bada bada bada bada bada BA! Some truth can be taken from this statement though. His playing is almost mechanically precise, while still being emotive. His foot work, although never doing any of the flash 32nds and stuff like that, is just brutal precision. Anyone who's played drums knows it's one of the more fruhstrating things to not be able to throw in off beat kicks on the bass here and there, during fills or just normal arrangements, but anders makes it look really really easy. He's a similar musician to Sundin. Probably capable of much more flare, but doesn't to remain tasteful and true to the songs.

In terms of the underground scene, they're definitely NOT underrated.
I'm not being confrontational here, but I'd like to know how you justify that? I mean, generally, they are. Even in underground metal. However consistantly praised they are by their tiny appearances in the metal media, it has to be pointed out, their appearances are still few and far between. Not to mention DT could be respected not just by metal lovers, but lovers of music in general. But this isn't really the case. I think centurymedia underrates them. I think promoters and tour managers underrate them. And ultimately I think their historic value is completely overlooked by mainstream metal, who want the consumers to believe melodic extreme metal began with Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall.

It's called independence, and you're damn right, he's totally underrated. When DT was on tour with chimeira I heard commentars like the DT's drummer is shit, just look how chimeira's drummer is playing - yeah right, you probably never even sat behind a drumset. A lot of people who listen to metal don't really know anything about drums (and music) or that there is anything beyong playing 16th double bass blasts at 220 bpm and making flashy tom-rolls all the time... like that's the ultimate acomplisment. n00bs.. Imo Anders is one of the most creative extreme-metal drummers with a lot of feel.

Ah, I've always loved punish my heaven for that wee bit of samba feel Anders puts in it. He was quite young back than when they recorded The gallery but was nonetheless awesome, at least for a metal drummer. Ah, I'd really love to hear him play on a drum clinic or something. :)
