Yeah, it's the Dimebag Darrell signature Krank. Dimebag didn't know anything about tone, he was a killer player of course, but his tone was never great. The Krankenstein's sounded terrible at Ozzfest. They sound better on recordings, but still sound weak and harsh to my ears. I hate those amps. I wish they would go away.

I agree. "Harsh" is a perfect word for it. I know Loomis and Smyth are using these now on Gigantour. I hope they get better tone than AE or In Flames. Ugh. THey don't even sound like tube amps.

bah. The only time it wasn't great was The Great Southern Trendkill imo. But still, that album was obviously meant to have that feral, raw feel.
And Pantera live, fuck that was awesome. The sound of that guitar alone is the greatest thing I've ever heard in my life. Monstrous.

Pantera albums rule production wise also (TGST to a lesser extent again here). I've never heard their shit sound bad on any system. I can't say the same for many other bands that I’ve listened to.

And.. Dimebags tone was unmistakably his. That's not exactly a common trait, is it?

The amps suck and are completely overpriced. Plus Krank's business practices are a total joke. I'll continue to bash them and praise amps that don't suck, Engl, Framus, VHT, etc.
