Blech. Vivaldi = N'Sync of classical music. Aside from one or two pieces that are really powerful, the rest are poppy annoyances. She asked to play his La Follia Sonata because it's much more expressive and beautiful, but nooooooooooo, guess what they assigned her?

Any suggestions? At the end of the year she has to do a group band sort of thingy after her solo concerto, usually a rock-type concert with all other instruments. She's practicing New Trolls right now, for all you Italians who know who they are. It's basically lifted directly from Vivaldi.

Give me some suggestions!!! Something awesome!!!!

It's true that his pieces are "less complex" and more catchy than the other composers
but to disrespect four seasons or the rest of his work... tssk tssk tskk... I completely
disagree.
 
Winter is the only good one, imo. Autumn is nice, but Winter is more powerful. Vivaldi is so perfect that it's boring. Completely bereft of expression and feeling...only perfection is key. That's why the Moscow Symphony Orchestra owns any orchestra coming from Italy.

Seriously, Italians have this thing about perfection in their music, but nowhere else, LOL!!!! Just look at all the prog-power bands coming from here and how talented they are, but most of them can't seem to write a decent song. We have a word for it, "scholastico", which means basically that it is something you'd play in a school or conservatory...completely dry and boring and predictable. I know so many people who left the conservatory in guitar because all they did was play fuckin' scales all day for two years. You ask them to write a song and they have no clue.

No no no, you misunderstood. Vivaldi was one of the more complex composers, along with Pagannini, but I say like N'Sync in the sense of lack of depth and emotion and too much poppiness, aside from the aforementioned few powerful pieces. 10,000 notes in 8 bars and at the end he didn't say anything. Impressive, yes. But Dvorak was better.

I'm actually listening to his La Follia piece right now because it's my favorite of his...and quite outside his normal style. I'm just a jaded prick, though. Don't listen to my opinions...they're seriously biased. Every time classical music references Italy, they come out with The Four Seasons. It has been "dimebagged", :lol:.
 
I'd consider Handel to be the n'sync of composers honestly. I mean the guy aimed completely to please the audience with his pieces for opera/oratorio. He knew exactly what the audience wanted to hear so that's what he wrote. If that isn't the definition of pop, I don't know what is.
 
He had a smaller orchestra than Bach did. Of which, at least for Bach's Christmas Oratorio, included an entire two flutes.

I am absolutely loving this guy, might even replace Chopin.

Op3 No2 Prelude in C# Minor is terrifyingly beautiful.
