REVIEW
This is the tenth studio album for ANNIHILATOR and I have to say that this album rocks. The greatest appeal of this album is the mixture of genres that this band eloquently weave throughout the album: funk, thrash, traditional metal and even ballads thrown in for fun!
The opening track All For You sets the precedent of the album an impressive bass intro makes way for crunching guitars that propel the screaming vocals. Then without notice the whole track turns itself inside out when suddenly the whole band comes alive it is this point that you start banging your head against the wall and stringing your imaginary guitar. As we progress throughout the album we come across real metal gems like Dr Psycho dark tuned down guitars rip across a story line about a nutcase that enjoys disembowelling its victims and performing lobotomies. The One takes us away from the metal corridors of madness into a calming ballad which is a nice departure into flamenco style guitars and soothing bass lines. Rage Absolute is a tirade of crunching guitars that conveys the anger of the title track.
On a whole, this album satisfies the quench for thrash metal. This album is for those that enjoy thrash blended genres and dont mind a bit of fun along the way.
