Annihilator - "The Trend"

While I don't particularly care for this band too much, aside from some of the classics, I do respect Jeff Waters for keeping this thing going for so long.
These guys just never got a break.

I think their last remotely decent tour of the States was what, in like 88 when they were the first band on the King D / Flotsam and Jetsam tour?

He is a hard worker that's for sure. I think it's mostly because they're pretty much thrash but they came in very late in that movement and it seems a lot of those Canadian bands don't usually do well in the states. Before people jump down my throat for that comment, I said MOST so yes I know bands like Voivod did and 3 Inches of Blood are but usually, no. From what I hear though he's trying to organize a tour of the states. Now, whether that actually happens or not is another story.

I strongly believe that the reason for Annihilator never to get the real breakthru' is due to the constant changing of vocalists. And even if he's now had the same singer for 3 or 4 albums, it's just too late for most "fans" to view Annihilator as anything but "Jeff Waters + hired band".

Claus - Agreed 100%.

Beyond the Allison Hell era, it was rather hard to ever take this band seriously, becuase of the constant change of sound. I have one of their more recent discs, with Joe Comeau (SP??) on vox. It's ok I suppose, but not a band I really pay much attention to these days.

You gotta wonder how quickly Waters approached someone about doing an ANNIHILATOR movie, following the ANVIL chaos.

Agreed 100%. There just is no stability outside of him.

Two legs. First leg was one, second leg was the other. Alice In Hell didn't come out until '89, so I doubt they were touring in '88.

Hrmm...
I don't recall I guess specifically what year it was.
I saw King Diamond / Flotsam / Annihilator together.
King D was supporting THEM, which did come out in 88.

I remember that when I saw Annihilator, I knew the song Allison Hell from the video on Headbangers Ball.

Ok, I found a link:
The show was August 1998. Maybe their album wasn't out yet?

Actually, I just did some further research, but it seems that the A/P/JP tour was in Europe only... which goes against everything I thought I knew about it. I need to figure out when the last time Annihilator played in the states was... It very well may have been in '89/90 on the Alice In Hell/pre Never, Neverland tour.

The last time they played Canada was on the '93 Set The World On Fire tour, not sure if they played the US during that tour as well...

Wait, what??????????
The last time Annihilator even played Canada was 1993?
I admit to not knowing squat about them.
Have they been strictly a studio band since the 90s?

Testament did two NA legs of the "Practice What You Preach" tour. One leg had support from Annihilator & Wrathchild America. The other was Savatage & Nuclear Assault opening. I think the Annhilator leg was in 1989.
