That is one of the milestones of metal in anyones book! May have to fire up the bass rig and play along tonight.

Even Maiden? Remember what forum you're in.

Just cos it's a Maiden tribute band's forum doesn't mean we can't say we like other bands more than Maiden. Sabbathking's just getting excited about his favourite band and quite rightly so cos it's an amazing album!! Thanks for the info SK!! I will play it tonight to honour it!!! :kickass:

I definately agree with that!!! It must have been incredible to hear it back in those days cos it would have been SO heavy! :kickass:

Not just back then. The title track is an absolute masterpiece of using dynamics and technique to create an ominous mood. Especially when Ozzy says," Oh no, no! please God help me" and Geezer slides that ominous bass sound.

This was a low budget album that changed rock history.

The metal yewts of today would be wise to study it.

Granted back then this stuff was unheard of and was trailblazing.

I blame Geezer for showing me how effective a slide on bass can be. :headbang: If I overuse it it is his fault.

You make the heavy metal hall of fame, this album needs to be one of the cornerstones.

cool post ty dave \m/ yeah that first track still scares the crap outta me heheh. wasn't it recorded on an 8 track? i think thats what i heard.

That 8 track tape shows you how unnecessary all this computerized stuff really is. Just a few guys playing their instruments, an 8 track tape player, and a few beers, that's all we need.

What's Sabbath's first album?

I don't think they slay other metal bands. Iron maiden, priest and all of Dio's bands are better. When I first starting smoking weed we'd listen to tons of Sabbath and I thought it was so amazing. Sweet Leaf dude. But I don't know man. It's all so simple and dated don't you think? I hope to never hear Paranoid and Iron Man ever again. I can't think of any Ozzy Sabbath song I really like other than War Pigs. I think there's one more I really like. The 3 power chord songs. Dio joins the band then all of a sudden we got great guitar solos and actual compositions. Maybe I just think Ozzy became an abusive retard and stop liking him after his show.

The first album was Black Sabbath. Read the rest of the thread. It was groundbreaking when it came out.

Sure other folks pushed forward but you have to tip your hat to the first.
