I thought he was rather clear. There is another video of 'Beyond Within' where his guitar went out completely during the solo. That was a bummer.

Question for those who know him: was his decision to become a pilot a foregone conclusion, or would he have stayed if Nevermore broke big?

Pilot = Great pay, benefits,set working hours,retirement...etc

Band = Not so much any of the above.

Not doubting any of that, Lynn. But the competition is fierce and he was starting out in his 30s to get his license when guys come out of the military with thousands of hours under their belt at that age. Plus, pilots in this country face mandatory retirement at 60. Remember Sully Sullenberger, the hero pilot who safely landed that plane on the Hudson in 2009? He was 58 at the time. Less than two years later, out he went and not by choice. England doesn't have such a law, so Dickinson can continue to fly after Maiden call it quits in a few years. But Tim is out of a job at 60, so if it was a lifelong plan, I'd figure he'd have started sooner.

Either way I'm glad he didn't because he was the third ingredient in making DNB so damn good.

I wish they would do the same for drivers licenses too. I am worried my grandmother is going to kill herself and/or someone else with her car one of these days.

He can do much more after 60, package services, transport,expediting services, etc etc. The company I worked for in the early/mid ninties gave me a $10 dollar an hour raise/benefit package to quit playing in a band. It was'nt a hard choice. I hated the bar scene anyway, drunken idiots, stupid sluts, cocaine fueled bar management/owners, set up, tear down, ciggarette smoke, travel. Bleh.
