Charlie Benante recently spoke with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation. During the conversation, he talks about playing with Anthrax and Pantera at the final Black Sabbath concert, “Back To The Beginning”.

SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, hosted by Eddie Trunk, airs daily at 3 PM, ET on SiriusXM’s Faction Talk. Audio clip and transcript below, courtesy of SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation.

On Anthrax and Pantera playing at “Back To The Beginning”:

Charlie Benante: “Oh dude, how can I say this? Well, today we were told that the song that we’re going to do, we’re not doing it anymore, so we have to come up with another song.”

Eddie Trunk: “It seems like there’s quite a bit of confusion and change with this thing almost every day. Is that safe to say? Are you gonna do your own, will there be Anthrax and Pantera songs in the respective sets, or is it just gonna be, you guys are gonna each get up and do a Sabbath song? I mean, how long are the sets gonna be? Do you have any information like that yet?”

Benante: “We’re doing a few songs each.”

Trunk: “Of your own bands? There’d be a few Anthrax songs, a few Pantera songs.”

Benante: “Yeah. Yeah. And some and Sabbath songs in that.”

Trunk: “Alright. And then it’s just kind of like, it sounds like a lot of people are flying by the sea seat of their pants on this.”

Benante: “Yeah. I’m just gonna, you know, my whole thing with this is, I don’t care what we do, I’m just happy to be a part of it and pay my respects to these guys who have given us so much. I’m talking about Black Sabbath as a whole, you know, Ozzy, Geezer, Tony and Bill. I mean, I grew up with this, and to me it’s such a privilege to be asked to be a part of it. So at the end of the day, just tell me what to play and I’m gonna play it. I know the whole Sabbath catalog, so I’m good.”
