Well I literally just got back in from seeing Anthrax's gig at the Trabendo in Paris and all I can say was it was totally sick. The guys played great and the fans brought the roof down. I think its the most energetic bunch of concert goers I have ever had the pleasure to mosh with.

Its been somewhere around 13 years since I last saw Anthrax live at the Garage in my native Glasgow so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was with a little trepidation that I set out to watch them tonight. I had been to a stunning Soulfly show 2 days before and was wondering how it would compare. It was also my first time at the Trabendo and if you ever get the chance I wholeheartedly reccomend it. Its a small venue with a low stage so you can get right up close and personal. Believe me there is nothing like rubbing John's stubbly head to get you in the mood for a mosh :headbang:

The support band were a tasty little french number called X-Vision who did a good job of warming the crowd up. They did a great line in hard goth metal and I felt they deserved a little more appreciation from the crowd. Although there was a hearty round of applause after each piece, there was only one or two people besides me doing more than swaying a little in the crowd. I'll certainly be looking out for them in the future.

As soon as the lights dimmed for Anthrax to enter the whole atmosphere changed, the room was filled with defeaning chanting and thunderous roars that built into a crescendo as the band filtered out onto stage. As the night progressed the noise only got louder. The participation really couldn't have been better and the smiles on the bands face at the sheer volume of enthusiasm in the auditorium were plain to see. I may have been the only scotsman there, but my very sore throat is letting me now that I certainly did my bit to represent for the rest of my country.

I won't bore you with a rundown of what was played, but lets just say that Caught in a Mosh really got the natives restless and Bring the Noise certainly lived up to its name. My only regret is that I won't be able to see them in Glasgow this year. I have fond memories of that concert from the past. The guys had flown in from Ireland and I can still remember the stories they recounted of a plane full of drunken Irishmen.. and of course their pandering to our national pride didn't go amiss either.

All in all, its probably the most enjoyable concert I have been too, so if you get a chance to catch them on this tour, take it. I'll be looking forward to seeing them again at Wacken in August.

And to the band, when you are back in Paris (or wherever I happen to be living) give me a holler, I owe you all a bunch of beers for that performance.
