Three of the members of Evanescence have formed The Fallen around American Idol singer Carly Smithson.

I'm pretty excited about this. I always thought Evanescence was just okay, but Smithson can sing circles around Amy Lee and Ben Moody has said the band will be more energetic than Evanescence was.

I like Evanescence, but I question how much longer they'll be around. Since the whole Moody/Lee thing self destructed, the band hasn't had the same success. I'll check this new project out though. :kickass:

The band is pretty much no more though I guess she's working on a new album for next year. She's been doing stuff as Amy Lee lately. I had already given up on the band but the whole Rocky/John thing was absolute bullshit. I lost what little of the respect I had left for Amy Lee with that event.

I'll check this out for sure. It will probably be heavy on the pop-side as that's the kind of music Ben has been writing for artists like Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Lindsay Lohan, Celine Dion, etc. We'll see I guess. I don't watch Idol so I just checked out some youtube videos of her. I do like her voice.

Have all their CDs, plus a few odd demo tracks here and there on my computer. Can't really say I dislike any of them. Origin stands above and beyond everything else, though. Be interested in seeing how this band turns out.

Girl has a great voice, so I won't knock them there. I'll give credit where credit is due. But the music itself, not my taste. Too commercial and Linkin Park-y for me.

I hate that when I show people metal with great female voices, they immediately compare it to Evanescence. That grinds my gears to no end.

That interesting Jibrille, but doesn't come as a surprise to me. If I remember correctly, you're the one that provided me with the Origin tracks a few years back. :kickass:

Saw an interview with Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation a while back. She mentioned that she gets compared to a different band, depending on the country she is in. Evenescence is just what people here know....not like anything else gets any airplay for them to compare it to.

I was at Hastings killing time looking thru the used cd's the day their first album came out. They were playing it and I asked who it was. Evanescence the guy says. Bought it on the spot.

I really liked the disc, but I actually grew bored with it pretty quickly. I can't say now why I felt that way and I've not listened to it since, nor have I purchased any others. Maybe I need to revisit this band.

You can use it to your advantage though.

"Hey, want to check out this Nightwish CD?"

"Nah, never heard of them."

"They sound like Evanescence."

"Oh! I'll give it a listen then!"

This guy lives across from me and he has a band with a female singer. He tells everyone they sound like Evanescence, although wheN I listened they didn't sound like anything I was familiar with. So you've got a pretty original-sounding band, but who in the Hot Topic crowd wants to hear anything original? So you tell them you sound like someone else and they come and give you a chance.

Their little, weak minds can't process too much information at once! You have to "spoon feed" them something like After Forever or Nightwish, which is sad. I'm sorry, but I think the teens today are a bunch of jackasses!

Brian! (and everyone else for that matter)

If you indeed like Evanescence, you might wanted check out Regardless of Me. Very similar in style but with their own identity as well.

Origin was and will always be the best Evanescence album. The two EPs are worth checking out as well as various demos you can find online. Fallen is okay. Through the Open Door wasn't good.

I'll stick to Aghora when it comes to female vocals.
