Favorite on the album. Only song on the album with lyrics written solely by John Bush. When I am out running and my ass starts really dragging and I want to stop I use my signature line below to keep my feet moving.

Great fuckin song!!!!

Anyplace was the first song I heard them play when they were demoing. Maybe that's why its my favorite (tied with Safe Home). Think About an End rules too.... that whole second half with the harmonies rocks.

Johnny-
Charlie said that 'Anyplace' was a song that they had a hard time...I don't know....constructing, I guess.
Did you get to hear this song become a song, or did you just hear the demo of the current version?

I was there for the demoing process of it, and the drum tracks for the album. I know one song they had to recut drums... I'm not sure if "Anyplace" is the song though. The songs groove really shines live... its arranged perfectly. You know how some songs, a band can't pull off live... like how in the old days Maiden had to drop a harmony at the end of Flight of Icarus so that Adrian could play rhythm? Not on Anyplace But Here. I think its the perfect song as far as performance and vibe go.

Still, no song packs a punch more than Safe Home... it builds and builds, and by the last chorus section the drums drive it.

Honestly, I've always hated the new stuff and, for some reason, I didn't buy WCFYA until yesterday. And this is easily the best John Bush album. This album seems a lot less cookie-cutter than the last two and takes more chances.

I didn't like Any Place But Here at first, but it grew on me at the second hearing.

The only things I didn't like about this album were they still flirt with straight rock (in a bad way), and John Bush only sings at two levels loud and louder (honestly, my throat hurts just from listening to it. He must have a throat of iron. Stop the abuse! Free John Bush!).

What I like about this album is it really brings a lot of things together. You can feel a lot of different influences working to make something very original. The songs sound a lot more polished.

As a fan since the Among the Living days, the best compliment I can give is I like this album and wish I had bought it earlier.
