anyhone demo the KRK RP8 vs the VXT-8??

Just doing some shopping.

The local store has some RP8's. Im looking for a change over my Behringer B2031a's. They have been great, but Im looking for something a little higher end now that i feel my mixes are getting better.....

Now, the RP8's are nice, but the VXT's are over twice the price.

Are they worth twice the price?!?

I wish I could demo, but there are no local VXT's....

Any input is appreciated!

What kind of room are you going to be putting them in? If you're not running a proper studio, with a decent sized room, then high-end monitors aren't going to help you. If you're just in your bedroom, then you may as well save the money, and just get the RP8's.

At our work studio, we have KRK's and they're very good. But at home I have a cheap pair of Tannoy Reveals; not too much point going any higher, as the room is quite small and clouds my mixes anyway.

I don't know anything about the VXT-8s, but my first set of monitors were the RP-8s, and even in an untreated room, I was able to put together some good mixes with them. The main reason I moved on was for increased low end response...otherwise, they weren't very difficult to mix on once I learned the way they sounded.
