I got this 2-CD concept album called "Subterranea" and it's quite amazing. One of the best progrock albums from the 90s.

I also have 5 other IQ-albums and it's hard to say which one is the best. They all have their own charm. "Nomzamo" (1987) is the most catchy and "commercial" album. That can be a bad thing for some and good for others... I personally find songs like "Common Ground", "Human Nature", "Still Life" and "Nomzamo" to be excellent.
OK enough with the chit-chat. I could go on and on, LOL.

Second favortite band after Enchant for me. Mike Holmes' solos are butter.

IQ is good. Their last 2 albums The Seventh House and Subterranea are both really good. I like how Their guitarist and keyboardist write eachothers parts. I have a friend who thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread. Dunno if I would say that, but they are a good band. Wonder why more people don't talk about them. They are working on a new album and a Biography DVD is expected to come out soon too.
Their hp is here: http://www.gep.co.uk/iq/

I have a couple of their early releases

1)Tales from the Lush attic (their debut album, which they will re-record. It's a great album inspired by early Genesis, but the sound is dreadful)
2) The wake (second album- also in the vein of early Genesis)
3) Living-proof (live album that is basically their second album played live, again dreadful sound, but I liked them so much at the time that I didn't care)
4) Nomzamo- album with a different singer- Paul Menel released by Mercury records.Sound has improved ten times and this album contains many great songs, showing IQ is to be reckoned with)
5) Are you sitting comfortably - Album that is way too commercial to please real progrockfans)
After that I never really bought another IQ album.
I understand the band teamed up with former singer Peter Nicholls again and released a couple of albums of which subterranea is best known - even on DVD)
IMO IQ is a band that developed really well,I should check out more recent stuff.

I still like it a lot. Of course it's commercial but I dig the melodies and Paul Menel has a comfortable voice. The 8-minute song "Würensh" is IMO quite progressive and also my favorite on the album. It has lots of a variety and really strong melodies. Then again, I also like more simpler songs like "Drive On", "Sold On You" and the beautiful ballad "Nothing At All".
