Hey guys, I know a lot of people here like the shape of the jazzIII, as do I but I also know a lot of people think the tone of them is severely lacking and the grip isn't so great either. I've tried the sharps but the points are too obtrusive to my playing!
Just found out about the TIII and ordered a couple to try out, anyone else tried them?

I LOVE the Tortex III .88mm man! I've gotten 5 people on to them already. Ermz got me to check them out a little while back... They are perfect for me that's for sure!

They are definitely cool picks. I am using them now although since hanging with Loomis last month, I have been playing around with those really pointy ones that he uses. I can't seem to figure out which I like more.

I've been using them for so long that I forgot the regular jazz III's weren't tortex. They really are a lot better. I also like the XL jazz III, and I REALLY like the Ultex material on any pick.

TIII are great picks, definitely better than the regular tortex picks, but I still prefer tortex sharps.

Didn't know tortex sharps exist! :) I always buy standard tortex (1.14) and sand them to make them sharp.

I guess no one imports the sharp ones here.

I've been trying all sorts of different picks lately. Green turle 0.8, the yellow ones, even a 1,2mm which i used for years earlier. But i tried the jazz III again (used them a couple of years ago) and damn, they just feel right. The attack is there, way more control over the right arm. They just feels right for me :)

I recently fell in love with the XL jazz III, and this little gem :

Yeah I got that black Jazz 3 but always use the red regular... will order those "max-grip" red ones tho!

I think I play with Tortex 3 already but I'm not sure, I tippically use Jazz 3 or Tortex of the same size/shape but Purple and (less often) Green. I don't think it's written T3 on them nor the thickness.. but will check them out.
Pics ?

edit: so after a little googling, this is the one I use and alternate with Jazz 3 (just because Jazz 3 become slippy after a 4 hours jam in a small room)

I was trying to get into the Sharp 1.5mms for a while due to the Loomis factor, violence etc. but I kept finding that they were tripping me up. Not only that but due to my right hand every single thing I played was completely out of tune. I now use the .73mm TIIIs and they allow me to smash the crap out of the strings as hard as I want, so long as I replace the pick every 15 minutes.

Oh have you now? :p That's lighter than me Ermz! What are you playing :p

I bought a few of the Eric Johnson jazz III's and they're not bad. Probably should try the tortex ones though. The logo seems to keep my fingers on the pick well enough.

Damn straight. As much as I love these tortex picks and their lovely spiky attack for riff playing, my lead playing is far more fluid with a jazz 3. Also, im not sure the tortex 3 attack is necessarily such a good thing with leads.

^^ Devilseed. I bought 2 huge packs of these, thinking they were the messiah. How wrong I was. The grips get stuck in my strings so i ebayed the whole fucking lot!

Tortex Jazz .88s. My go to pick until I fell back in love with the green Tortex. I'm gonna order some green TIII's though, because I've been filing my regular Greens to a Jazz shape for a couple of years now.
