Mike Amott (guitars) further conveys his excitement over the album’s first week sales: “Hey Arch Enemies. It is amazing to see that Doomsday Machine debuted at #87 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Who would've thought pure fucking metal would be on the Billboard charts.

More food for thought. It's metal making a real comeback? (see my thread about sales in metal) Will AE would had done the same with a male vocalist? (see my thread about Angel)

I don't like AE, but to see it entering into Billboard like a splinter in the eye of pop makes me grin :heh:

Damn, damn, damn I want so much for TGE to break into billboard! Personally that AE chick scares me...seeing her live last year I thought her eyes were going to bug out of her face!! If she doesn't use any effects on her voice, she won't be singing very long.

...it just went back underground where it began

Actually it never got totally underground, it was simply ignored by the mass media (like RS), but now we'll show them, we are taking over!!!!!!!!

Hope she's using appropriate techniques to preserve her voice so she doesn't end up sounding like Marge Simpson's sisters by the time she's 40.

She is actually...
Said herself a few times that she's taking lessons with a private vocal coach.
For the technique of breathing and voice control...
Although she doesn't sing in a conventional melodical way, she still needs to apply the same techniques as the real singers if she wants not to lose her voice after every performance.
It's not about growling or singing, it's about how you do it and are you built to do it or not. Russell Allen sings, but not anyone can reproduce his growly style of singing, maybe for a short time, after which the one would cough and barely talk. I suppose it's the same with harsh vocals, if it was THAT easy, anyone could be the lead vocalist in some death metal band...

Yep! Thats true. Its actually pretty hard to do it the right way. It also true that you don't need to growl that hard. That seems to be one of the secrets. If you do it too loud you will damage you vocal cords permanently.

i didnt even know it was a chick when i first heard them lol

Nobody did. Just before 'Wages of Sin' was released they posted a sample at they old message board without mentioning the name or gender of the then new vocalist. The reactions were all positive!

Than after a few weeks they revealed Angela's identity. Some people were in shock, those are the same people who keep whining they want Johan back, but most people accepted Angela right away!
