I thought this was gonna be a Paul Gilbert thread
Watched some of his other videos and I think it's just that his pinky is basically almost the same length as his other fingers, whereas I know for me my pinky is a few cms shorter than my ring finger.

Mine are quite long too I guess. That combined with the fact that I constantly use my pinky just like my other fingers (played classical guitar for about 11 years as my main instrument so it became a solid part of my technique) makes it look like I have a spider as my left hand or something Well, at least playing my 8-string isn't difficult even though the scale for the low F# is 30".
