ART pre and comp or Eureka's?

I'm intending to replace my current pre and comp with something better sometime in the near future. Mainly for vocals, perhaps some acoustic guitar, and various stereo mic'ing.

I had my eye on the ART ProMP II preamp and the ART ProVLA II comp for a while now, but I recently had the thought that maybe a pair of Presonus Eureka's would be better.

Any opinions on which you would choose and why?

Either the Eureka or the Studio Channel, can't remember - maybe both?, only have up to 2:1 compression - IMO useless for that aspect. Make sure to check on that if you go the Eureka route and will be wanting more compression.

I've got an ProVla II and think it's pretty nice for the dollars.
I tried joe meek, fmr, dbx and presonus and bought the ART. I only wanted a single channel but the ART had a tiny little bit of "magic" to the sound so I paid for two even though I only ever use one.

I haven't used much high end stuff, but the ART sounds closer to high end then low end to me.

There are some great reviews on gearsultz regarding the ART pre and comp.
Many people like them.

have the ART Pro MPAII, replaced the stock Chinese tubes with Mullards. Best valve pre out there for the money! Love it!

Sounds like maybe my first instinct was the right one after all. I'd heard quite a few good things about those ART units, but I guess I second guessed what I'd been hearing. Thanks for the input everyone.
