This is a new band I recorded. There isn't much production at all because I didn't charge them very much. I think their song writing is pretty sick though!

Guitars are Ibanez guitar is EMG 81, 85, - TS9 - 6505 - Mesa Cab - sm57 - UA Solo 610

Otherside was a Mesa Dual rec with TS9 with an Orange 4x12

Bass - Mark Hoppus bass and ampeg plugin

Drums - Slate and all programmed

Mastered with Ozone

Let me know how it sounds and any good pointers on how I can improve this mix!

i like it a lot, sounds is a little bit thin,
there seems to be a "frequency hole" somehwere, turn up the bass maybe?

the track is nice, very well played and the aprts fit well together!

cheers
S.

sounds really good the only id change is more gain on cymbals, vocals, and bass. Maybe id turn down the guitars/drums a bit. I think the drums may need a little more room verb added try it out see if it makes it sounds more natural. and the low end is slightly missing. Its almost there otherwise good job :D

Here is the updated mix.

The problem was that the stereo widening that I'm using for mastering was causing comb filtering in the low end big time. I took away all stereo widening on the low end.
I turned up the vocals and the bass. I also took some highs out of the guitars. Let me know what you think!!

This sounds much better. My suggestion for the guitars would be a reduction in the 2k, and a boost to the 200hz.

The latest update is better. The first post I was going to note backing off of the limiting on the master but whatever you did seemed to help bit. Kick stands out more than I think it should. You can hear the snare fine however it has no attack has no attack (could be a limiting problem again). Also, variations on the drum velocity with your programming would help out making it seem a bit more authentic.

Sounds good dude, but I think the vocals still kind of sound in the back. (Unlike a lot mixes I hear) the vocalist is decent enough that you don't need to hide him!
