At Vance - Facing Your Enemy

When did Rick Altzi get this good then? His voice is ok but I'm not a big fan of his but he's sounding mighty fine here like a cross between Apollo and Jorn. Very good indeed!

Rick Altzi was always an excellent singer IMO, sounding a lot like Jorn at times. He was great on Thunderstone-Dirt Metal (excellent underrated album), which is his finest moment IMO. But he also rules in At Vance as well.

Ha, atleast I'm consistent. A consistent asshole is better than one you can't predict. But hey I support the scene, buy the cd's, go to shows, I just voice a different opinion more than most. Let's embrace our differences and all just get along :-)

Exactly. Rick has been awesome for quite a while. This song is kind of slow, but if At Vance's track record means anything, it will be a solid album of melodic metal. I own everything they've done and it's all good.

Rick Altzi not that good? HAHA have you ever heard the FREQUENCY album he sang on called "Compassion Denied"? He fucking KILLED on that album. He also did some cameo vocals for DREAMLAND, and EPYSODE. Also currently sings for Thunderstone, and Sandalinas as well.

The newest album he sings on is the new HERMAN FRANK album coming out in June, and this kicks all kinds of ass!

Proud to call Rick a personal friend of mine!

Damn sounds like a cross between Jorn and Jeff Scott Soto....Sounds incredible!!!

I guess it's a good thing for a singer to be a constant subject of debate, means people care about him enough to listen to the music.

I've always felt Altzi to be the kind of guy who doesn't take away from a good album if the songs are good, but won't carry an album on his own the way a Jorn Lande or Roy Khan can. Haven't heard the new At Vance yet though, be interesting to see how he did.

Guys, I'm not getting the Jorn comparisons at all. With that said, he sounds a helluva alot like James Christian from House of Lords though! Go back and listen to some HOL and you'll hear what I mean.

Olaf Lenk is a good enough songwriter that I'd never count him out, but for me, they hit a pinnacle with Only Human... I got the next two albums after that, and they weren't bad, but they just never seemed to hit that level again. Perhaps I'll give this latest one a try...
