Attention!!!

So you mean we can't buy any cd's? LOL

Well, inside/out is there, so I'm not about to stop buying Symphony X cd's just because their record company is part of the RIAA. Remember, just because their record company is part of the RIAA, it doesn't mean that the bands under that record company shares the same thought.

It doesn't matter what the bands think. If I download a Symphony X song, I can still get sued, no matter what the band thinks about it, even if I own the cd. Lucky for me I don't like Symphony X.

Heh, there's a label called 'Crime Partners'. The name says it all. :)

Most of the bands that need the support arnt part of the RIAA. Im not against buying music, I am against the RIAA sueing 12 year olds...

The people that get screwed over the most by the record industry are the bands, closely followed by the consumers. Any band dumb enough to sign to a major label deserves what they get. If they choose to make music their 'livelihood', and they don't realize what they're getting into, then fuck them, I don't feel any need to support them.

Too bad stuff like Relapse and Metal Blade are on there, even though I already knew that. It is surprising that Century Media and Nuclear Blast werent on there though. I already do try to limit my purchases from RIAA labels and do pretty well at it, but sometimes it can be really hard.

Why are you gonna punish one of your favorite bands because they signed to a major record label?

Would you rather the label drop them and have the bands you like breaking up, unsupported cause everyone will download their tunes, but nobody will pay for them?

I download LOTS of music, but I buy a LOT of CDs too. I have well over 400 store bought CDs, and if there's a band I listen to and like, I'll buy their CD and when they come around to my area, I buy a ticket and purchase some merchandise.

Everyone should do the same. It's not like Metal bands make much money anyways.

metal blade......rapes there bands too......they just do it on a smaller scale and in diferent ways.....they give teeny tiny deals too older metal bands and use them for all they can.

i've never seen any band from metal blade make any money where the band didnt have to get a job after the tours.....i could be wrong though.

Because signing to major labels, or even just being distributed by a major, makes them party to stupid shit like 12-year olds getting sued by the RIAA. I'll buy the shit second hand or download it, or both.

Oh, boo hoo. I've played in bands for years, none of them ever broke up because we couldn't sell our shit. If your band breaks up because of 'lack of support' (ie 'units shipped'), then you're playing music for the wrong reasons.

Me too. Actually, I rarely buy cd's, I prefer vinyl. I've probably got about 700 LP's and about 900 7" singles and EP's, so I buy plenty of music. In the long term, driving the RIAA out of business would be good for the bands and good for the world of music in general - who do you think are responsible for 'manufacturing' popstars like Britney, Justin, etc.? They're the reason that cd's are overpriced, and why radio stations won't play anything that doesn't suck. Fuck them.
