Don't be fooled by e-mail hoaxes
Scams and hoaxes abound on the Web, so it's important that you keep a sharp eye out for suspicious looking e-mails. One such e-mail purports to be from MSN Hotmail, and states that if you do not forward the message to 10 friends, your account will be closed. MSN Hotmail accounts will ONLY be closed if you do not log into your account for more than 30 days. So if you receive an e-mail asking you to forward the message to your friends, ignore it.

Also beware of e-mails with subject lines beginning with "FW" or "RE";
e-mails appearing to be chain letters; and e-mails that ask you to reveal your password.

I am in the process of transferring all my hotmail to another e-mail service. Microsoft is getting to damn greedy! They want to charge $10 a month and I won't go for that when I can get additional e-mail boxes from my provider for an additional $2.50 per month added on to my internet service package.

So how come you received the first message? I have two Hotmail accounts and neither have been sent that message. I'm thinking you've been scammed.

If they are charging how come it still says "MSN Hotmail is the world's largest provider of free, Web-based e-mail" in their Frequently Asked Questions section?

hey Thraxman, i'm on hotmail, and i haven't gotten anything like that. hotmail is great, stick with it.

I haven't gotten that e-mail either. I don't like hotmail because I have a feeling all the porn ads come from them selling my e-mail address and I got a pop up window the other day when I logge in. But I didn't get the $10 a year email. did the email have the little newspaper thing by it? all I've been getting is warnings that my account is almost full and that I'll need to buy more space but I just cleared it all out
