attn: keyspan energy delivery

they triple billed me once and i didnt get refunded for 9 months. then they refunded me in $10 installments. bitches get stitches.

We called about paying a bill, trying to figure out where we go locally. And the company rep goes "is anyone living there? you haven't had any power usage since september!" So we're getting this huge bill just as soon as they send someone over to fix the meter. Mind you... they're a week overdue so I figure the bill will be about $750000000000000 by the time they're done.

this was from my very first apartment that never happened in september of 2000. they turned the gas on and left it on till july of 2001!

also i should mention that the reason i never moved in was because the old tenants refused to move out and were causing damage and calling inspectional services into the matter and so they were probably using the gas that was being charged to my name.

maybe DJ's dad can fix my problems then.

i tried explaining to them about my situation and they basically they said that they don't believe me and that i need to prove to them that i was living elsewhere which means i have to obtain a copy of my lease from my old landlords.

you can also just get a copy of any old bank statements and/or tax returns with your old address on it showing you didn't live at the other place.
anyway, that's wacked and you shouldn't have to pay it. if they release you from the debt, get it in writing from them so if it shows on your credit report you can send that to the agencies that report it to get it taken off.

my keyspan bill this month was $450!!!! fuck them!

greg, your story reminds me of the summer toby and i lived together. i moved out in the beginning of august and toby said he would stay until august 31st, so i told him if he wanted the utilities in my name (a phone line) he would have to cancel it himself or i was going to do it aug.1

well well! in march of the next year a collection agency tracked me down in philadelphia and told me i owed well into september because no one ever cancelled it or paid the last bill. and that my credit was fucked. they sneered at me and laughed.

still the blackest mark on my otherwise not-so-terrible credit history!
