Audiogalaxy's Top Ten Metal Albums of 2001

Have you heard "God Hates Us All"?

God Hates us All was poor and I don't see Kreator, Sodom or Destruction up there. My guess is that Slayer wouldn't have gotten there if not for their older albums and the fame they got with them.

Second class thrash/hardcore winning over first class thrash metal...

Most importantly, Slipknot's Iowa became the first Death Metal album to skyrocket into public awareness,

This one made me laugh. Death metal? Hardly even metal.

Some people are already saying that Blackwater Park has cemented its place as one of the greatest albums in heavy metal history

This one made me harumph. Sure it was good but anything else by Opeth is better.

Amen, Misanthrope...and God Hates Us All sucked...and I once again reafirm my unpopular stance that SOAD IS NOT METAL and IS NOT ANY GOOD!

My friend told me about this. I hope it wasn't based on downloads because that means a lot of people didn't buy BWP. I agree with Misanthrope that it shouldn't really have been on the list. I don't know...something about the whole file sharing clients just doesn't sit well with me. Also, having Opeth and Slipknot on the same list makes me a little uneasy. It's cool that they were #2 though, but Slayer's new album #1? I think not...old Slayer is excellent, but their new direction/sound is very lacking.

Listening to Clayman, I can sort of understand how that could happen.
