I always thought it was a big mistake binding PT to certain hardware, making it unusable for people with low-budget equipment

^ maybe, but have you tried applying to work/intern at a studio without ever using PT? that's probably why it became the industry standard.

but the few big studios don't bring the money for software companys. It's the small bedroom studio.
