Saw this a couple of weeks ago and figured you guys might be interested.
It looks like the very companies who are lobbying congress to get SOPA through are the ones who created and distributed the file sharing software in the first place, and promoted it's use for copyright infringement. So legally they are liable for the damages.
Not dug around and researched this myself yet but if it's true then we've all been made fools of.
