I wanted the self drying/sizing/lacing clothes more than a hoverboard.

I saw the inherent flaw in the hoverboard design even at a young age, the hover mechanisms are only on the bottom of the board, which would imply downward force/displacement creating the hovering effect. Meaning that variations in pitch would directly affect the direction of the force and ultimately see your hoverboard smashing into the ground following any significant leaning on your part.
