Be careful what you buy

Never heard of that luthier. Well, I mean, it sucks but that's probably what you get for not researching a reputable brand...not trying to take a dig at you, it can happen to anyone. Ornsby, Blackmachine, Decibel, Sabre, Daemoness...could have bought one from any of those guys for nearly the same price and likely been blown away by the quality.

7string.org is full of luthiers who don't seem to exist anywhere else on earth. Some become juggernauts (blackmachines, etc.) but logic serves that some will be hacks.

Read the link, I can't see the pictures though because I am not registered with that forum. Boo!

Sucks about the crappy guitar though.

I don't get this absolutely fanatical obsession with customs, its like people like the
idea rather than the guitar itself.

Oh wait you have to sign into SS.org to look at the photos. Now I remember why I didn't actively post there.

Welp I can tell that whoever ordered that thing has horrendous taste. That is one fucking ugly shit guitar.

Here just look. Poor workmanship aside that is just disgusting.

I get what you mean, but I'm also way into custom--- or at least hand made --instruments. The truth is that unless you need something really specific what you are (or should be) paying for is a know build quality, aesthetics (expensive materials and/or finish), something unique and a relationship with your builder. If you can't get 95% of what you need from an off the shelf instrument then you need to look in the mirror before your wallet. OTOH, if I see one more "black cherry" Korean/Indonesian veneer quilt I'm going to vomit.

Anyway, what I don't understand is being so desperate to get the next big thing or a slight deal that you're willing to chance sending thousands of dollars to an unproven business. There are so many proven shops that it just seems crazy to me.

That's crazy money. If it was me I would have just bought a production guitar I liked and put an evertune on it at that rate and saved myself cash/hassle. I mean otherwise what's special about that guitar that it warrants such a price tag? Clearly not the workmanship...

I wouldn't even pay 300$ for that shit.. It looks like a bad Chinese guitar copy but 15x times more expensive ^^
