I can't help but wonder if we're already doing this sort of thing to our own history, what with the casual way we clump things together as "17th century", "Renaissance", "pre-war". A friend recently mentioned seeing a period film in which Christopher Walken played a french nobleman with his normal New York accent. "King.. LOU-ie... yer.. HIGH-nez..." Shit like that floating around is going to screw anthropologists and historians right. thee fuck. up.
