Hello all,

Been lurking for a long time since I needed to learn a lot of stuff around mixing and mastering. Thank you to all that shared their thoughts here:notworthy:notworthy I never posted before but now I believe my mixes are ready to be critiqued as I have reached a certain level where I am comfortable sharing the results. I brought the Systematic Mixing:rock: book and that has been the foundation of my new sound.

Please go to town on all my stuff on my Youtube channel (see my signature) but in particular please critique my most recent work. which is this instrumental

Congrats on your first '' public '' share :)

My opinion is that you should bring drums lil bit down in mix, maybe even balance a whole kit a lil more and make it sit in mix without being leading part.

Bass should come out lil more but not so much with volume but with frequency because it rides with guitars in a good way, maybe this will fix itself when you bring drums down, you will see.

This are just 2 main things I noticed :) in the end its a very good mix, just needs a lil more tweak here and there :)

Definitely either bring the drums and bass down a touch and bring the guitar forward, the guitar tone is searing and should be in your face. Great mix on the drums and bass together though, it sounds tight, not fighting for it's spot. Toms are right there soo.

All in all not a bad mix I agree with Inmate. The only real thing I hear is that the guitars should be a little more upfront. Reference maybe some Symphony X? They have a similar feel/style at time.

Thank you both for the advice!! Other than just bringing up the Volume how would you recommend bringing the rhythm guitars forward without getting into trouble with the lead guitar?

When you will bring the drums down maybe that will fix itself, because right now the drums are '' pushing '' guitars away if you know what i mean.

Now thats the way to do it bro :) sounds waaaaaay better :)

You could just bring the bass up more for like 1 or 2db, but thats to my taste :) if you like it this way then leave it this way :)

GOOD JOB!!!
